BIG SCREEN, LITTLE SCREEN

What deaf athlete became a regular on American Gladiators, and what was her screen name?

Answer:
Shelley Beattie, a champion bodybuilder, handcar racer, and crew-member of the America3, participated in American Gladiators from Summer 1992 to 1996 (9 episodes). Her screen name was Siren. She later described the first event of her first day (Swingshot, a bungee game) as her most memorable experience: “It felt so good to be a Gladiator. I wanted to win for the kids—the fans. I just love them. I felt for the first time, I was accepted for my deafness.”
